Master in I-Design: Interactive Objects, Spaces, and Services
The Master in I-Design (11 month program) offers the possibility to generate interaction design concepts and strategies interpreting the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) potential, while integrating design sensitivity with market-oriented technological and business competencies.
Program Philosophy: The goal of the Master in I-Design is to unite the worlds of information technology and Italian design. In fact, the “I” in the program’s title stands not only for interactivity and information, but also for Italian design and the Made in Italy phenomenon. For Domus Academy, interaction is itself a territory inhabited by people, objects, instruments, and information. It is not only a space, but also a boundary between the physical and virtual worlds. Interactive design is a tool for synchronizing the two.
Program Structure: The themes explored throughout the Master in I-Design program represent the above-mentioned link between the existing culture and the perspective and possibilities represented by I-Design. Themes include Interactive Media, Service Design, Media Entertainment, Digital Communication, User Experience, and Entrepreneurship. Domus Academy’s approach for teaching these topics is to simulate the design studio experience. In other words, the learning experience becomes an extension of professional formation. In this as in all other DA master’s programs, students learn by beginning to design immediately. The Master in I-Design is comprised of four s: a basic introduction to design culture; workshops; a focus period in which students formulate their own specific projects; and the execution of those projects, which are the students’ theses.
